APIs and API Books, My New ClockCrew Movie, My Wacom Tablet, Dialysis Error Automation Projects

March 28th Saturday

Penni woke me up early for breakfast at Izzy's. The Clock Crew movie scored lower than I hoped (2.54/5.00). Penni and I had dinner with Penni's parents at the Kabuto's by UNCC. Later Penni and I played scrabble over the FaceBook.com. She won by 2 points.

March 27th Friday

Rainy again, I ate lunch with Kursty and met with Kou to finalize her department's Project. I covered the sysAdmin desk while he used some flex time. I bought groceries, ate some weird soy Chicken fillets, took a long nap and submitted my Clock Crew movie to Newgrounds.com at 2am.

March 26th Thursday

It was rainy again, Penni said I was saying "Wheres my running crew" all night. I gave blood and took the QA Database down to fix a small issue. The boss's boss's boss got a nasty virus. My boss's hard drive crash while she tried to log on his PC. I was a able to save his desktop settings with a Linux LiveCD. I went to a late practice and overdubbed the slow bass drum part / BleepLabs part.

March 25th Wednesday

Window Handle of the Beast!

I bought some used book online for API stuff. I brought them into work for reference. I went to practice and worked on more recording stuff.

I found this code to set the wacom bamboo fun function keys to keyboard keys:
# Set the "FN1" button to "control c" (usually copy)
xsetwacom set pad Button2 "core key control c"

# Set the "<" button to "-" (zoom out in Gimp)

xsetwacom set pad Button1 "core key -"

# Set the "FN2" button to "alt f1" (open main menu in Gnome)

xsetwacom set pad Button4 "core key alt f1"

# Make the ">" button automatically type "xsetwacom rocks"

xsetwacom set pad Button3 "core key x s e t w a c o m space r o c k s"

# Set "FN1" to double click
xsetwacom set pad Button2 "dblclick"

March 24th Tuesday

I Worked with some API stuff to control mouses and holding it to a specified area of the screen. I sat up the director of Billing with CCSM walked a lap. I got the import files for Dialysis Error Automation Database. Chuck called, Penni and I got sushi with Chuck we talked to 11pm. He wants to create some test with Excel and VBA. it is pretty easy, I will show him.

March 23rd Monday

I Pulled the data that Queried for the database i ran Friday evening. I deleted a bunch on old backup copies of database and cleared up 20GB of space. I walked a lap during lunch and met about with a bunch of management and IS about an automation project. Chuck called, he is back in town from Japan. I went to practice and recorded more individual drum tracks. Scott and Jessica are doing well. They are hanging out and sleeping to 4pm playing Galaga and eating a lot of pizza, Awww.

March 22nd Sunday

Penni and recorded some audio for the flash movie with my Linux laptop and audacity. The Best takes were the ones that we did together. Penni's dad stopped by with his Laptop, I think it has a bad video card, the VGA did not work with a LiveCD.At practice we record just cymbals and high-hat parts on the new drag part. We are trying to over dub individual parts to make the song easier to mix. Crashed early.

March 21st Saturday

Penni woke me up 4 hours after I crashed. We went to Izzy's for breakfast, then the yarn store, then to Target to return something that Penni ordered online. We bought some torchieres and one of those automatic daily shower spray things. Penni and I talked about ClockCrew movie plot ideas all day it was fun. She is the best. I put the lamp together and crashed early.

March 20th Friday

I made a Database to loop through the a shared network drive to report on old files and hidden directories that are taking up drive space. I told my boss about it and started it running before I left for the day. I bought a drawing tablet from Best Buy. It is the Wacom "Bamboo Fun" version. I had to do a few simple terminal commands to get the pressure sensitivity to work.

It was easy: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wacom

I brewed some coffee and worked on a flash movie to 5am.

March 19th Thursday

I showed the manager of the Medicaid Department my Web Automation Tool and had lunch with my Boss at Miguel's. I posted to the clock crew site and then went to practice.

March 18th Wednesday

It was rainy and cool this morning. Last night I accidentally elbowed Penni in the face, this morning she asked do I have a black eye? :( I ate lunch with the usual crew at showmars and solved the "test top window" issue, I post the solution to the access forum that I posted a question. Scott called and canceled practice mysteriously. I posted on the clock crew boards and researched 2d animation in Linux. I discovered that I have 44 more mini homework assignment to finish before the end of the online class.

March 17th Tuesday

I went in early to cover the system Admin for the first part of the morning billing, walked a lap during lunch, and worked on window handles all day. I submitted some Java homework and went to the dentist. I received another email from RabidClock, he's cool. I watch a few clock movies. I missed those guys,.. I am going to try to balance a wife, a band, a job, an online class, and the ClockCrew... I need to just get rid of the TV completely. I ate a giant salad and crashed late.

March 16th Monday

My Boss asked me to change the 2821 letter database and the old Credit Processing Database to show user names instead work-list mnemonics. I went to Walmart with Kursty for lunch and worked on better understanding window handle API stuff. i received an email from RabidCLock. He asked me to come back to the cc. I checked out the ClockCrew.cc site and saw it was now a good balance between Spam, Art and programming. I wrote him back.

March 15th Sunday

It was raining this morning. I woke up late and watched new American Dad episodes. I installed the extra GooTool package and played a bunch of extra World of Goo Levels. I folded up laundry. Scott called practice off. He was tired from driving back from the beach with Jessica. Penni and I watched some new Simpsons, Family Guys and had coffee/muffins for dinner while Penni worked on knitting.

Sunday, March 15, 2009

Bought the World of Goo game, QA Database Rollout/Fixes, OpenOffice.Org appears in CHS, and No I don't want your Dick's Sporting Good Score Card.

March 14th Saturday

Woke up late, had cookies and coffee for breakfast/lunch, watched a lot of American Dad episodes, played Scrabble with Penni and won. We went shopping for Penni's clothes and more DIY stomp box switch parts. We met Penni's friend from Twitter Erica and her boyfriend Evan for dinner at Cabo Fish Taco. They were cool, we all talked about external hard drive problems. Penni said "Stop talking Computers, I can't understand any of you!", it was adorable. We got home and Penni napped on the Couch and finally went to bed at 3am. I stayed up to 5am and beat the World of Goo Game. (This is why don't own any game systems!)

March 13th Friday

It was rainy all day, I ate lunch at Miguel's with the usual crew. I took the New QA Database offline for about 30 minutes after lunch. I added fixes to catch Print shortcut keys and to display a better message when the ADO Recordset mysteriously refreshes. The database now jump back to the record that the users were working before the refresh event. This is the biggest database (coding and number of users) that I ever rolled out. Having the all the data in a SQL server instead of huge local tables made the it run a lot faster. I was able to create "Debug Versions" of the database that specific users could be productive in and generate useful error messages. At the end of the day I put together the Month End Reports PDF files, published them on SharePoint, and sent out the notifications.

After work Penni and I watched the "Step Brothers" movie, it was OK, generic Will Ferrell crap, Nothing that will you any smarter or change your like. I noticed that the LinuxTVserver harddrive is getting full. I researching setting up a external usb drive that will stay mounting as read/write. I have been running Linux for ages and i should have that memorized by now, oh well.

March 12th Thursday

I added some code to the QA database to handle a weird ADO Data Provider Error in FORM_OnError event (Hurray for Response=acDataErrContinue!). This is the first time I have used that form event. I need to add that code to my Google knol. I ate lunch with the usual crew at ShowMars and had a salad. I took a walk outside during my short break. I found out that my company's information support department is testing OpenOffice.org with their Project Managers. They are hoping to cut licensing costs with the free open source application, Hell has Frozen over! Woo!

There was no band practice because Scott was at the beach with his girlfriend. I bought the full World of Goo game. This is the first game that I have bought for Linux. The purchase was very simple, Their site linked me to a PayPal page, I clicked submit, a link to a DEB file was sent to me 10 seconds later.

I looked up open office's version of VBA. It is called "Basic" (exciting huh?). On the surface it is exactly like VBA, but deeper there are some weird "Universal Network Object" stuff (Obj = createUnoService("com.sun.star.frame.Desktop") I need to look for some books on that stuff...

March 11th Wednesday

I found some code sample to jump to the previous record when the QA ON_Error Event hits. (DoCmd.FindRecord strFind, acAnywhere, , acSearchAll, , acAll) I just have to catch capture the Previous AccountNumber that the User was on before the mysterious ADO refresh happened. At Practice we played the full sweaty set.

March 10th Tuesday

I worked on the "QA data provider n/a" issue all day. I worked an on_error event to deal with it. My boss called my Send Input to STAR function "Splitting the Atom" in a meeting with Executives and VPs. That was pretty funny.

If I heard a Support Analyst was splitting Atoms in a business park by the Charlotte Douglas Airport, I would quickly pack and drive toward the west coast as quick as possible.

I walked a lap at lunch and took a short walk during my 15 min break. After work I bought some low profile ankle weighs at a Dicks sporting goods. The guy at the register was pushing the score card really hard, it was super creepy. He probably gets off on it. I remember doing weird stuff like that to pass the time when I was a kid working a crappy retail job. I need to think of some nice one-liners to shut that down.
"Really?... Can your Score club Membership Card bring my daughter back to life? No?... *(Rub eyes and sigh deeply.) Credit, Please..."

Later I ordered a pizza for Penni and had salsa and chips for sinner. My sister emailed me that Ani Difranco was in town this week. I told Penni and she was not too excited about it. I submitted some JAVA homework and we played scrabble. She quit in the middle of the game, I don't know why, she was not that far behind. It was weird. I has expecting some huge argument to pop up, but none did. Oh well.

March 9th Monday

Daylights savings time messed up the coffee timer this Morning. (Curses!) The QA database rolled out. There was a tiny issue with the "SQL" file import. I found an easy temp work around it. The whole day was pretty stressful. I accidentally worked through lunch because of all the Database stuff. I ate a late lunch at Niko's and read a little more of the Stephen king book from Jury duty. I walked around outside during a short break. It was warm outside. I Showed my boss my write to star stuff. He liked it a lot.

I went to practice. The band next door was rocking out and we couldn't do demo mixing stuff so we ran through the full sweaty set. I got home early was really tired. I downloaded an Elton john's Greatest hits album from mp3music.ru, burned it for Penni and I crashed early.

March 8th Sunday

I woke up at noon. I stayed up too ate playing with Ping.fm and Identi.ca. I worked on some JAVA home work and played scrabble with Penni and won. I went to practice and played a little of the set and worked on the new drag part. We added a mean echo-y electronic part to it. I washed my sweaty practice clothes in the sink and came home. I ate a giant (whole head of lettuce) salad and crashed early.

A Big Snow, A Fried Router, My VBA Knol, DB Rollouts, and Entering Data into STAR with Access

wE aRE tHE hARDESTCORE!!!1

March 7th Saturday

I woke up at 11am. I had some coffee/cookies and worked on my Google knol (http://knol.google.com/k/brian-gryder/vba-code/). Penni and I went to the mall to return some stuff she ordered online. The mall seems to be getting dumber and dumber as more intelligent busy people are shopping online. We were invited to go to Celebration Station with Scott, Jessica, Ricky, and Trish. We checked it out and decided to just do sushi 101 instead. After dinner we played scrabble and Penni won. Penni set the clocks for daylight savings time and crashed early.

March 6th Friday

I worked on a database to show what I can do with the new "Input-Characters-to-STAR" function. The Manager of QA called and wanted to roll out the new QA database that Friday. I took a quick lunch, walked a lap, loaded up the SQL server the live data and rolled it out at 2pm. The supervisor for QA found a debug where the department combobox was not jumping to the correct records on key presses ("B" to jump to "Billing" .. etc). I tweaked the OnCurrect event and fixed the bug before 4pm. After work Penni and I went to her parents house to hook up her dads router. We then went to the grocery store, came home and cooked a frozen pizza for dinner. Penni knitted and napped. and I finished some JAVA homework and played the "WORLD OF GOO" demo on the Linux Laptop. I finished the game at 3am, it was awesome. I should buy the whole game.

March 5th Thursday

I ate lunch with the usual crew at ShowMars, I paid for Miss A, she always grabs the tip when have no ones. I loaned her the Squidbillies DVD. I took a short walk after lunch. I figured out how to input characters into STAR. This is a big Deal, It creates a LOT of automation possibility. It felt really good. I bought pennis dad a new router. His Linksys/Cisco router was acting really weird. I went to practice and work on java homework while Scott mixed.

March 4th Wednesday

I remoted into the CMC-Union Billing Department manager's PC with GoToMeeting and talked with her about deploying a Rebill Database. I rolled out the 2821 Letter Worklist Database to the users. I was pulled into a RightFax meeting and wrote up some OSRs for access for the RAC audit team. I went to a late lunch and walked a lap. Scott called off practice. I watched an X files episode with Penni, I think I drove her crazy. I cannot help but talk to/through cheese Sci-Fi. I installed KDE, LXDE, Fluxbox, and XFCE with only one synaptic upgrade on my main laptop and somehow uninstalled my network manager. I fixed it by copying the deb packages from Getdeb.net with a flash drive.
March 3rd Tuesday

I emailed the power user for the Credit Processing Department to meet and review the new 2821 Letter Worklist Database. I updated the ATB database and fixed a huge employee move OSR . I ate lunch with my homie Miss A at ShowMars. I felt a little weird after lunch, so I took a break and went out for short walk in the cold. I felt better afterwards. The Sysadmin was pulled in a late meeting so I covered part of the afternoon electronic billing. On the way home, I picked up a pizza and cookies. Penni and I dropped off a PC with Edubuntu at Penni's parent house. Later, we watched a new Sponge Bob episode called "The Big One". It was awkwardly written and edited with weirdly random dialog. It is probably getting canceled and this episode was the bottom of the barrel. I ate way too much pizza for dinner and felt terrible.

March 2nd Monday

It snowed hard last night. My boss called at 6am and let me know the office was opening at
noon. Penni stayed home, knitted and shopped online all day. Our home router was fried when the power blinked off. I bought a new router at best buy on the way to practice. Scott called in late for practice so I worked on Parradiddles to KMFDM. I showed Scott the Unknown Henson extra on the Squidbillies DVD on my laptop. He liked the New Rita's Gift Logo (the bunny on a Big Wheel) that jokingly hacked together. He mixed and I worked on the DIY kill switch pedal. After practice I stayed up and configured the new router. I crashed around 1am.

March 1st Sunday

I woke up late and installed Edubuntu of an very old 128mb 250mhz PC for Penni's Nephew. It is very slow but works good enough for pre-K games. Penni and I played scrabble, I won. It started snowing very hard. I called Scott and cancelled practice. The power blinked off for a second and the Internet was down all night. I watched some Simpson FLVs files on my laptop in bed and crashed early.

Credit Processing's 2821 Letter Worklist Database thingy, Insane waitress at Frankie's, Sushi 101's satanic basil shrimp and Kpersonalizer gone in 4.2

Feb 28th Saturday

It was raining all day. Penni woke me up early to go to H&R block for our taxes. Then we went to a store on Central to for Penni's incense stuff and then to Cabo fish taco for lunch. Penni wanted the waitress's boots, so we went to a shoe store to find them (Wifed!). We also went to go to a radio shack to buy a project enclosure to make a double line kill switch for Scott's rig. Later we had coffee, played scrabble, watched the squid-billies DVDs that I ripped to the linuxTVserver and crashed around 1 am.

Feb 27th Friday

It was rainy all day. I worked on the 2821 productivity database reports all day. I was looking for a easy way to combine a local DAO recordsets and a ADO recordsets from the SQL server to sort and push out to excel. (rs1 + rs2 = rs3) I could not find a quick and easy way to do it. I ended up writing the DAO recordset to rows 1 to X and writing the ADO recordset to X+1 through the X + recordcount. I ate lunch at Salsaritas with the whole Special Projects crew. I talked to a project manager about a badly written OSR to move around a bunch of PFS Specialists. After work I made some reservation, showered and ate dinner at Frankie's with Penni.

At the restaurant the waitress kept saying "Awl Riiight"

How is the calamari? It was good... AWL RIIIGHT! Did you have Diet or regular? Diet please.. AWL RIIIGHT!

She sounded totally insane. After dinner we played scrabble, I won. I worked on java homework, watched some new family guys and tried to run Kpersonalizer in 4.2, but Kpersonalizer is gone, Why? Kpersonalizer was a great way to quickly turn the desktop eye-candy all the way up or all the way off. There was a thread in the KDE.org forums that There is a "Welcome Widget" in development that will replace it in KDE 4.3... SuX0rz!!!1 >:( Penni and I finally crashed around 3am.

Feb 26th Thursday

I fixed the issue with the ErrorEmployee field in the QA database. The field was bound to the full employee name but the record from the SQL server was the Employee ID, thus the field was blank because the record was not in the combobox's list. I talked to the QA power user and manager about a work around. I changed the combobox list to employee IDs and added a hyperlinked "?" beside the field that to show "User ID: LastName, FirstName" on the click event. I went to an I.S. appreciation luncheon and later that day We had a Department meeting at Nikos with my boss and boss's boss. They were discussing stopping PA employee "Hand Holding" to focus on Application Development. I left work late so i texted Scott and got to the space later. We worked on mixing and left early because Scott was tired. Later at home, Penni and I watched family Guy. Penni crashed but I stayed up and worked on java homework. Eclipse is really great for generating correct getter/setter syntax. I post a thread in the online Java class about the SourceForge RoboCode Project.

Feb 25th Wednesday

I met with my Boss and the supervisor for Credit Processing to show them the rough draft of the 2821 letter Worklist database. They gave me a small list of feature requests. My homie Miss A was out sick. I walked a lap during lunch. I found a issue with the QA database rebuild with the ErrorEmployee combobox showing no user ID. I went to practice and we worked on mixing all night.

Feb 24th Tuesday

I worked on the 2821 Worklist database's sorting and printing all day. I walked a lap at lunch listening to the Anti-Mother album. The STAR Itemized Bill printing and E-collect were down all day. I called my sister to check on her Windows XP virus that popped up last week. I have not heard back from her so she is probably OK. I called Scott to check on his progress on recording vocals. I was kinda bummed out so I listened to the RadioHead Kid A album driving home. ("How to disappear completely" is freakin' awesome!) I took a shower and went to Sushi 101 with Penni. I had the Basil shrimp, it was terrible, hellishly-too-spicy, torture! After dinner we went to the grocery store. Penni wanted some pimento cheese and humus (Gross). We watched family guy and drank coffee. I worked on customizing the KDE 4.2 laptops colors, panels, and icons.

Feb 23rd Monday

I worked on 2821 Worklist database all day by 4pm I had the gut's of the application pulled together. I wrote a function to open a CSV file as ADO recordset, it's cleaner that the "docmd.transfer text" thing or manually coding to delimiting fields. SSI Hot key and Star Itemized bill printing went down. I walked a lap during lunch and later. Scott called, he wanted to work on vocals solo so no practice for me. I picked up cookies from Harris teeter on that way home. I ate a big salad/chips and salsa for dinner and later and later cookies and coffee. Penni had some spaghetti and started knitting a vest. She is knitting a lot. I worked on the old Lappy KDE 4.2 install. I added an auto-start event to get KnetworkManager started on log-in.
